about

I wrote this song after attending a lecture at Berkeley by Sherry Turkle about her book "Alone Together." I remember I was sitting next to someone who asked a very silly question. I can't remember what it was. When I got home I decided that I wouldn't use my cell phone when standing in line and I wrote this song to help me remember my decision.

I'm planning to put it on the next album of practical songs celebrating the "in-between" moments.

lyrics

Rather than thumbing a text
and loosing the phone at your belt
when you are standing in line
be at home alone with yourself
be at home alone with yourself
consider the shade of the sky
remember the place of your very first date
whistle an old lullaby
be at home alone with yourself
be at home alone with yourself
you look just fine dear standing in line here
at home alone with yourself
